Former Australian captain Aaron Finch raised questions on the strategy of KKR which is performing poorly in IPL 2026. He said that the team should not select players on the basis of price and should consider giving a chance to Tim Seifert in place of Cameron Green. Speaking to ESPNcricinfo after the match against Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday, Finch said that many of KKR’s strategies were incomprehensible. The team could not register a single win in five matches and got one point due to rain. Green is not being used properly. Finch questioned the decision to play Green at number six. He said that this is not his normal batting order and it is not utilizing his potential properly. Green is batting at different numbers this season. He scored 18, 2, 4, 32* and 0 in five matches. Finch said that he has batted at number six very few times in his T20 career. He said that Green’s difficulty against spin was clearly visible. He was out on the first ball against Chennai when he faced spinners. Questions on KKR’s batting: Finch said that the team did not look competitive in the run chase against Chennai. The partnership of 50 runs in 31 balls between Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi was slow. He said that sending Sunil Narine to open was a good experiment, even though it was not successful. Narine scored 24 runs in 17 balls. The team management tried this as a change. The team opened against CSK with Finn Allen and Sunil Narine. Allen scored 1 run. His scores this season are 37, 28, 6, 9 and 1. Seifert should get a chance. Finch believes that KKR has an in-form opener like Tim Seifert. He said that he has a variety of shots and he presents a different challenge to the bowlers. He said that at some point the team has to accept that the current combination is not working and a change is necessary. However he said that the tournament is not over yet. Team trying different options – Southee After the match, bowling coach Tim Southee said that the team is trying different options. He said that many changes happen during defeats and IPL gives an opportunity to test the depth of the squad. Now KKR’s next match in Rivalry Week will be played tomorrow against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad.
