Uttarakhand’s entire focus is on increasing the number of medals in the upcoming 39th National Games to be held in the North-East states. Sports Minister Rekha Arya took an important review meeting of the Sports Department in the FRDC Auditorium of the Secretariat on Tuesday. Giving an ultimatum to the officials, he said that the complete action plan for the preparation of the 39th National Games should be on their table within 24 hours. Will give its infrastructure to North-East states Sports Minister gave an important instruction to the officials and said that if Meghalaya or other North-East states do not have adequate infrastructure for sports like cycling and shooting, then they should be proposed to provide these facilities in Uttarakhand. Along with this, instructions have been given to organize intensive training camps for the players, coordinate with sports associations and organize as many National Championships as possible in Uttarakhand before the National Games. Haldwani Sports University will start from July. In the meeting, the work of the Sports University being built in Golapar, Haldwani was also reviewed. Minister Rekha Arya said that the target is to start the first academic session here from July. For this, necessary ‘Curriculum Committee’ and ‘Pariniyamavali Committee’ have been formed. Besides, it has also been asked to speed up the process of creation of posts. Posts will be created in the department itself for jobs under sports quota. The department has made a new strategy in the matter of giving ‘out of turn’ government jobs to the promising players of Uttarakhand. The Sports Department wants that instead of depending on any other department for this, majority of posts should be created in the Sports Department itself. Officials have been given strict instructions to take swift action on this. There will be major changes in these policies too: Necessary amendments will be made in the mandate of Chief Minister Emerging Players Upgradation Scheme, Chief Minister Players Promotion Scheme and Contract Trainer Policy, so that the direct benefits of these schemes can reach the players. According to the guidelines of the Central Government, a draft of “One District One Sports” policy has been prepared in the state. It will be brought to the ground soon. Many officials including Special Principal Secretary (Sports) Amit Sinha, Additional Director Ajay Aggarwal, Maharana Pratap Sports College Principal Rajesh Mamgai and Deputy Director Shakti Singh were present in the meeting.
