1. Samrat Chaudhary will take oath as the new CM of Bihar
On April 15, Samrat Chaudhary will take oath as the new CM of Bihar. The swearing-in ceremony will take place at Lok Bhavan today. With this, there will be a BJP Chief Minister for the first time in Bihar.
- Samrat was born in 1968 in Lakhanpur in Munger district of Bihar.
- Samrat first entered politics in 1990 under the influence of his father, Shakuni Chaudhary, who was a seven-time MLA and MP.
- Samrat has been surrounded by controversies since the beginning of his political career. In 1999, he was removed from the post of minister due to his young age.
- Samrat was elected MLA from Parbatta constituency in 2000.
- In 2014, Samrat was the Urban Development and Housing Minister in the government of Jitan Ram Manjhi.
- Samrat joined BJP in 2014 and was made the Vice President of Bihar BJP in 2018.
- Samrat became the chief campaigner of NDA in the Bihar Assembly elections in 2020.
- Samrat was made Panchayati Raj Minister in Nitish Kumar government (BJP quota) in 2021.
- In 2024, Samrat was appointed Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and a senior BJP leader in the state.
- In 2025, Samrat became the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and was also the Home Minister.
- Nitish Kumar had resigned from the post of Chief Minister of Bihar on 14 April.
- Nitish became the Chief Minister of Bihar for the first time in 2000 and took oath on 20 November 2025.

2. PM Modi inaugurates Delhi-Dehradun Expressway corridor
On April 14, PM Modi inaugurated the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway corridor. It connects Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand and with its commencement the distance between Delhi-Dehradun will reduce from 6 hours to about two and a half hours.
- The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway corridor is 213 km long, with 6 lanes. This access controlled corridor is built at a cost of Rs 12,000 crore.
- Along with this, the PM also inspected Asia’s longest 12 km elevated wildlife corridor, which has been built between Dehradun and Saharanpur.
- On this occasion, Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Dhami were also present.
- This corridor has been built with eco-friendly technology. Underpasses and sound barriers have been installed to protect the wildlife.
- This corridor will boost tourism in Uttarakhand and reduce congestion on the existing highways.
- The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway project was launched in February 2021.

It is Asia’s highest wildlife corridor, whose 12 km route is connected to Rajaji National Park.
3.Pirojasha will be the new chairperson of Godrej Group
On April 14, Godrej Group formally announced its successor. Pirojsha will be the new successor of Godrej.
- Pirojsha will take over as the chairperson of ‘Godrej Industries Group’ and ‘Godrej Industries Limited’ from August 14, 2026.
- The current chairman of Godrej Group is Nadir Godrej and he will retire from his post in August 2026.
- In place of Nadir, his nephew (son of elder brother Adi Godrej) Pirojsha Godrej will take charge of the Godrej Group.
- After retirement from Godrej, Nadir will assume the role of ‘Chairman Emeritus’ in Godrej Group.
- Pirojsha currently serves as the Chairperson of the Group’s Properties, Capital and Ventures Business.
- Pirojsha joined Godrej Group in 2004 and in 2012 Pirojsha became the CEO of Godrej Properties.
- Pirojsha is known for environment friendly construction, smart urban development.
- Pirojsha was ranked 12th in the Forbes 2023 A List Developers list of the richest people.
- Career Before joining Godrej Group, Pirojsha interned in the New York Senate office of Hillary Clinton.

- Godrej was founded by Ardeshir Godrej and his brother Pirojshah Godrej in 1897.
- The company was started during the Swadeshi movement to promote indigenous products.
- Godrej company initially made only locks, then gradually started making safes. Godrej worked for the aerospace industry in collaboration with ISRO for 3 decades in 1985.
- The total value of Godrej Group is Rs 2.34 lakh crore.

Pirojsha also worked as Additional Secretary to the Minister of State for External Affairs in Delhi.

4. 4 Indian cricketers included in Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack magazine
The magazine ‘Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack’, published on 15 April, has chosen Mitchell Starc as the world’s ‘Leading Men’s Cricketer’ and Deepti Sharma as the ‘Leading Woman Cricketer’ this year.
- This year, Wisden has also included 4 Indian players in its oldest honor ‘Five Cricketers of the Year’.
- These five players include Team India’s Captain Shubhman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja, Rishabh Pant and Mohammad Siraj. The fifth player is Haseeb Hameed.
- All these players had performed well in the 2-2 drawn Test series against England last year.

5. ICC announces prize money for Women’s T-20 World Cup
14 April International Cricket Council (ICC) announced prize money for the Women’s T-20 World Cup. This prize money has been increased to Rs 82 crore.
- The total prize money of this tournament to be held in England and Wales has been increased to Rs 82 crore. Has been done, which is 10% more than 2024.
- Earlier the prize money was $7.95 million (about Rs 74 crore).
- The team that wins the ICC tournament will get Rs 21.8 crore, the runner-up will get Rs 10 crore and the team that loses the semi-final will get Rs 6.29 crore.

MISCELLANEOUS 6. Blue water sailing campaign started
On April 14, the Indian Army launched its first blue water sailing expedition ‘Samudra Sahas’ from Marve, Mumbai as part of the 200th celebrations of the Regiment of Artillery.
- The 520 nautical mile expedition along the Konkan coast will commence from Mumbai and will be completed in 4 phases.
- A 21-foot sailing boat of seabird category will be used in this expedition.
- The expedition will cover a distance of 7 nautical miles, navigating in varying wind conditions.
- Captain Kshitij Nair and Subedar Prakash Funde will lead this operation.
- This operation is being conducted in collaboration with the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard.
- The Artillery Regiment is the second largest and most destructive branch of the Army. It is also called God of War.
- It destroys the enemy from a distance through guns, mortars, rockets, missiles and surveillance systems.
- The Artillery Regiment is a time-honored branch of the British Army and has been in official service since 1716.
