To play in the world’s fastest and high-pressure league like IPL, young players have to be mentally strong. 21-year-old Delhi Capitals player Vipraj said that to perform at this level, state league experience and planning of practice camps are most useful.
Delhi Capitals all-rounder Vipraj Nigam spoke to the media at the JioStar press room on Thursday during the Rivalry Week of IPL 2026.
Vipraj has taken 12 wickets and scored 154 runs in 17 IPL matches so far.
Match planning in practice session itself
Vipraj said, IPL is a very fast league, where players get very little time to think about their preparation and the game. For this reason, during their practice sessions and camps, they decide what kind of performance they want to perform in the match. They adjust themselves in the practice session as per their planning.

Vipraj Nigam was born on 28 July, 2004 in Uttar Pradesh. In the auction held for IPL 2025, Delhi Capitals franchise had signed him for Rs 50 lakh. Vipraj is adept at right-handed batting as well as legbreak bowling.
Made headlines on debut
Vipraj’s debut was excellent. Making his debut for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025, he made headlines with an explosive inning of 39 runs in 15 balls and one wicket (Aiden Markram) in the match against LSG. Vipraj played this innings when Delhi Capitals were at 113/6 in the 13th over and were chasing the target of 210.
Vipraj’s domestic career
Vipraj started his career as a batting-all-rounder. He has played 6 matches so far in first class cricket. Meanwhile, he has taken 20 wickets in 10 innings. Apart from this, he has taken 19 wickets in 16 matches and 33 wickets in 31 T-20 matches. Scored 135 runs in 9 innings of First Class, 48 runs in 7 innings of List A and 241 runs in T-20.
DC’s next match will be played against RCB tomorrow. This match is part of the rivalry week of IPL 2026. The match can be watched on JioHostar and Star Sports Network from 3:30 pm on April 18.
