Yuroy Wang, 22, from Taiwan is a fan of Korean theater, but he doesn’t speak Korean. But thanks to AI-powered smart glasses, Wang is now able to enjoy the drama without any hassle. These AI-powered smart glasses translate dialogues in real-time during a live performance in the theatre. These glasses are connected to a smartphone app, in which the viewer can choose the language of his choice. As the actors speak dialogues on stage, the AI system instantly translates them and displays them on the lenses of the glasses. Government is also promoting: In South Korea, the government is promoting such experiments with the help of the Ministry of Tourism. These glasses are being used in many shows under the ‘Smart Theater’ program of Korea Tourism Organization. Technology is not perfect However, the technology is not completely perfect yet. Sometimes there are delays or mistakes in translation, yet it is being considered a gamechanger for the theater industry. Companies are now working on lighter and more accurate models.
