Google has removed 8.3 billion i.e. more than 830 crore bad advertisements worldwide in 2025.

Tech company Google has removed or blocked 48.37 crore ads violating rules in India in 2025. Meanwhile, the company has also suspended 17 lakh advertiser accounts with the help of its AI platform Gemini.

This information has been revealed in Google’s 2025 AIDS Safety Report released on Thursday. According to the report, action has been taken on an even larger scale at the global level. Last year, more than 830 crore bad ads were removed worldwide.

Along with this, 2.49 crore advertiser accounts have also been suspended. The company claims that 99% of the total ads removed were stopped before users could see them.

Gemini AI increases Google’s strength

Google said that its capabilities have improved tremendously with the addition of the Gemini Artificial Intelligence model. Nowadays scammers are using generative AI to create misleading advertisements.

With the help of Gemini, it has become easier to identify and stop such fraudsters in real-time. Its efficiency can be gauged from the fact that action was taken four times faster on user reports in 2025 than in 2024.

The system now understands ‘intention’ instead of keywords.

Kirat Sharma, VP and General Manager of Google’s AIDS Privacy and Safety Department, said that his teams work 24 hours. The company’s new models no longer rely only on keywords, but they also understand the intent behind the ads.

These models analyze billions of signals such as account age and behavior. Due to which even advertisements designed to avoid detection are blocked in advance.

What is Generative AI and AIDS Safety?

  • Generative AI: This is a technology that can create text, images and videos on its own. Scammers use this to create fake advertisements that look real.
  • AIDS Safety Report: Google releases this report every year to maintain transparency about what steps it has taken to keep its platform safe.

How should users be cautious?

  • Even though Google is blocking 99% of ads, even 1% can be a big threat.
  • Avoid overly attractive offers (like iPhone for ₹1000)
  • Do not give bank/OTP information on unknown websites.
  • Check URL and brand name carefully
  • Don’t trust the sponsored tag
  • Remember, these days fake ads look just like the real thing.

Impact on advertising industry

Suspending accounts on such a large scale has an impact in two ways…

  • Fraud Network: Fake networks are eliminated on a large scale
  • Genuine Business: Sometimes even real small businesses can get hit by mistakes

Therefore, Google is constantly trying to make its system more accurate, so that only wrong accounts are targeted.
